Joined Rolls-Royce in October 1996 entering on the new Graduate Intensive Training Scheme for Design. Joined Turbines as a Mechanical Designer on NGVs in February 1997 and commenced work on the HP and IP NGV concepts for the Trent 600. Worked on HP NGVs for a number of years, as designer for Trent 500 and Design / IPTL for Trent 900.Stayed in Turbines, moving from NPI commodity to Design Team Leader in Turbines Cost Reduction team giving good grounding in a wider range of products, cross project. Completed a 6 month secondment with TS&O Fans and Compressors at this time too.Changed role from Design TL to AWPO within the cost team, learning the basic SAP and CAM roles and building a good understanding of business case development for cost led projects. This programme management experience naturally led to the WPO roles which, cross project I worked successfully for many years on Trent 700EP, Trent 1000 Package A/B/C, and Trent 900. I spent significant time working with RRSP ITP on the LPT designs.Joining System Design I led the Operational Support Teams for 2 years building my knowledge on marketing campaigns, Engine Health Monitoring and fleet support, before reorganisation saw me move with the WED team element of that organisation into the new Assembly and Test SCU. Within A&T I've performed the Chief of Assembly role which we have now standardised into a Chief of Commodity role, responsible for developing and implementing global A&T commodity strategies and leading commodity innovation. I moved into Assembly and Test and led activity on Design for Assembly and Design for Life Cycle cost work elements with with clear focus on Product Safety Assurance and Process Compliance related to Type Design Data with interfaces into the Development and MRO Services businesses. Rolls-Royce transformation has recently seen me take on a global role leading the EFS Repair Capability across the group product portfolio, accountable for method, process and tool improvements as needed by the company divisions.
