About Phil Daoust

I write Fit For Ever, a fortnightly column on longevity, exercise and wellbeing, for the Guardian/theguardian.com.I've been a journalist for almost 40 years, much of it on staff at the Guardian, where I’ve been deputy features editor, deputy arts editor, comedy critic and radio previewer (not all at the same time). After 10 years in France, in a draughty shack on top of a mountain, I am now back in London. As a freelancer I:• edited Happy for Life (theguardian.com/happyforlife), a sponsored microsite about happiness that lived on the Guardian website in 2014 and 2015. Its articles were frequently the most read across the whole of theguardian.com• wrote cover stories on mushroom hunting, my love of winter, losing weight by swimming in a pike-infested lake, the horror of business meetings, the joy of working from home and the incomprehensibility of spectator sports• regularly contributed to the Guardian's much-imitated Pass Notes• produced a weekly round-up of readers' comments, again for the Guardian• interviewed many photographers for Weekend magazine• commissioned and edited supplements on subjects such as hiking, woods, art, bookshops and the night, featuring contributions from the likes of Lionel Shriver and Jeanette Winterson• edited books on bees, Hillary Clinton, phone hacking, the 2011 riots, how to protest and music festivals. I also edited two bestselling books by the Secret Footballer• translated articles on creativity, swearing, moaning, Juliette Binoche, sleepwalking and much more from French to English for Psychologies magazine.

Listed skills include Writing, Editing, and Translation.
