Phil leads WSP's Active Travel team across the UK, overseeing a virtual team of multi-disciplinary experts in planning, design, appraisal, and consultation, covering all stages of the project lifecycle.His role includes the development and delivery of WSP's Active Travel business plan, the promotion of our expertise across the sector, business development and work winning, partnerships and collaboration, sharing of best practice, team resourcing and recruitment. Phil has worked in the Transport Planning sector for almost 20 years and is an experienced Project Manager and Director. Key recent clients in the active travel space include Active Travel England, DfT, National Highways, North East CA, and Tees Valley CA. Phil is an expert at the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) process having been involved in the development of over 40 LCWIPs across the country. He is a workstream lead on WSP's support to ATE on the Design Assurance framework, led the recent successful National Highways Active Travel pilot study, and previously co-authored the Active Mode Appraisal Toolkit User Guidance.Phil is a former Chair of the CIHT North East & Cumbria region and currently undertakes the role of Regional Panel officer, tasked with directing operations to support over 700 members across the region.
