In 2003, following 10 years in retail and sales, I decided for a change in career. After somedeliberation I chose to enter the social housing sector, due to the positive impact I could have on the lives of the tenants and residents in the community.I spent seven happy years at Liverpool Housing Trust. Beginning as an admin assistant for sixmonths, before spending five years as an Housing Officer, then 12 months as a CommunityRegeneration Officer and finally six months as an officer in the Policy & Research Team.During my time at LHT I also completed a HNC and Degree in Housing Studies and NeighbourhoodManagement, respectively.I then made my move into management, securing the position of Property Options Manager atChester & District Housing Trust. Here I managed a team of ten, providing the allocation and lettingfunction for the Trust, as well as Chairing the CBL Steering Group and attending the CBL Board. Iwas responsible for producing the performance information for the CBL scheme and feeding theresults back to the various partners, stakeholders and Board.From May 2012, I was Group Governance Manager for Cosmopolitan Housing Group, and latterly Chester and District Housing Trust. This was a really interesting position, managing through a particulary difficult time, as CHG went through the merger process with Sanctuary Group. All my organisational and diplomacy skills were tested as Board meetings became a weekly occurence, ensuring the necessary Board members and senior managers were available, and papers were produced and circulated, became vital.I have since taken up the position of Governce Mager in Plus Dane Housing Group back in Liverpool. Again anther challenging position as the GRoup looks to moe back from recent downgrading b the HCA. However,I look at this as an opportunity to demonstre my abilities as we restructe the oveall governance of the organisation.
