This massive change to a company gave me an incredible insight in how massive changes to businesses affect people.I then specialised in tactical-win automation using a variety of technologies to interface with mainframe systems. This achieved a combined saving of 200FTE and I was awarded the Centrica Outstanding Achievement award by Sir Roy Gardner in recognition of my contribution to the company restructure. This opened my opportunities to a number of high profile projects.After gaining raw experience in the delivery of IT projects end to end with real hands on work in specifications, development, testing and implementation, I moved to the Windsor head office to work as a Project Assurance Manager and was fully trained and certified in the bespoke 'Centrica Prince' which was developed and improved from PRINCE II by Centrica, This role might have been considered as 'Project Police' by some, but I was 'poacher turned game keeper' in a sense because I had began by delivering 'maverick' projects and learnt the hard way. This role also provided a true insight into running some of the biggest £multi-million projects I have ever been involved with including the new build Edinburgh HQ I then made another internal transfer to deliver projects to the new-start business in the telecommunications sector where I gained a huge amount of commercial and marketing experience as we entered the most competitive markets at the time, in mobile, land-line and broadband products.
