Hi, I am a recent graduate of Iowa State University, having earned my Master of Architecture degree in May of 2019.I am very excited to have recently come on board at Miller Dunwiddie after being let go from my previous position at Station 19 Architects.Between my undergrad and graduate degrees, I worked for a year and a half in Rochester, MN, as a lead estimator for a subcontractor. Though exiting my full-time role at Queen City to begin a graduate program at Iowa State University, I still do estimates remotely on an intermittent basis. Through my experience as an estimator, I became comfortable reading construction drawings and familiarizing myself with them as a routine part of my job.One of my goals as I completed my formal education was to diversify my knowledge. I took classes outside architecture to further other interests of mine: I conducted an independent study with a professor in the Music department looking at acoustics and the intersections of music and architecture. I studied the history of city settlement and expansion in the U.S. through a course in Urban Design. Finally, I continued to pursue my interest in foreign languages by enrolling in an upper-level Spanish-English translation course and an English class focusing on second-language teaching and acquisition (ESL).In summary, I'm working to become a professionally licensed architect and hope to eventually find a place in which I can explore my interests while utilizing my skill set in an internationally-focused firm.
