Key Projects/Responsibilities• River Exe 2D Bacteria Model – E. Coli levels are important for shellfish beds within the River Exe Estuary. I built and validated a large coastal 2D model which predicts E. Coli levels over 16 tidal cycles using MIKE21.• Strathclyde Loch Bathing Water Study – As part of the 2D model build for the Strathclyde Loch Model Study, I was tasked with data analysis to determine model bacteria levels and decay rates. This included the combination of various datasets and reported values. A model calibration run was also used to confirm the results obtained from the data analysis.• Thames Water Flood Resilience Program – Thames Water has various strategic assets that require flood prevention measures to ensure continued serviceability in the future. As part of this project I interrogates 1D - 2D modelling results to provide background information to Thames Water on vulnerable assets and provided completion reporting based on resilience measure undertaken by Thames Water.

Analyst

Edinburgh, City Of Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Key Projects/Responsibilities• SEPA Upper River Don Hydraulic Modelling – I was tasked with the 2D modelling of the Upper Don River in Aberdeenshire. The project involved the update, evaluation and simulation of existing flood inundation models created by SEPA. The update was in accordance with the Flood Risk Management Act (2009) Scotland. As part of the 2D modelling process an extensive QA/QC process was undertaken to ensure all results were accurate. I was involved in all steps of the project from initialisation to final deliverable submission.• Borders Council Dirtpot Corner Hydraulic Modelling – As part of a road realignment proposal 2D hydraulic modelling was undertaken to assess the impacts of the development on the river channels capacity to mobilise sediment. As part of the 2D modelling I was involved in the entire model build, simulation and reporting.• SEPA Coastal Hydraulic Modelling – The coastal inundation 2D models for Aberdeenshire, the Highlands and Orkney Islands were required to be modelled as part of the Flood Risk Act. As part of this project I was involved with the modelling of detailed coastal models for small towns located on the coastline, along with the modelling of large Firth areas such as Beauly and Cromarty.

May 2018 - Nov 2018

Environmental Scientist

Auckland, New Zealand

Key Projects/Responsibilities:• Environmental Impact Assessments – Whilst at PDP I have been involved with many EIAs which are used for resource consent applications. Most notably I prepared the technical hydrology impact section for an EIA which involved the construction of a weir. This technical hydrology impact section included flood extent analysis and hydrological analysis of the water speed through the fall of the weir. This was required to be less than 0.8m/s to ensure fish passage is possible. I also helped prepare the technical drawings of the weir for the resource consent application. • Sediment Monitoring Programme - I was tasked with the planning and execution of field based, data processing and reporting components of this project. As part of this programme I was also tasked with the management of field based staff, including training. The project involved creating a sediment budget/model through the use of continuous monitoring sites, verified by check data. The resulting report summarised key statistics on water flow and sediment concentrations. With the resultant sediment transport rate, this was extrapolated to a per annum sediment movement to determine the overall sediment budget/model for the wetland.• Surface Water Assessments – These reports were developed using client data to compare seasonal and yearly trends through water quality indicators. Recommendations were to conduct further intensive monitoring throughout two days, in which I completed. The detailed information will be used to inform applications for resource consents to discharge wastewater to land.• Project Management – Whilst at PDP I have been involved with the management of some projects for various clients. I managed all project facets including scoping, management of time, project completion reporting and invoicing. Along with management of my own projects I worked closely with other project managers on high monetary projects.
