AngularJS Widget Upgrade for a large US investment bank (Apr 2019 - Jun 2019):I lead a team of three engineers to upgrade legacy AngularJS widgets to Angular 5. We quickly assessed the product and developed a strategy for upgrade. Using TDD and CI/CD we completely re-engineered the product from scratch and completed the engagement two weeks early.Architectural Assessment for a large UK 2nd charge mortgage lending bank (Jan - Mar 2019):I assessed the architecture of a .NET WPF and Web application for the bank to determine if it was feasible for future investment, or if a new product should be procured or built. Multiple factors were examined, including non-functional requirements, product architecture and coding standards, user experience and database performance. I wrote a detailed and highly technical assessment document and presented the results of the assessment to the bank's CFO.Digital Transformation for one of the UK’s top Insurance vendors (Aug 2018 – Dec 2018):We assisted an Insurance provider with their ongoing digital transformation using MuleSoft to create an evolutionary architecture consisting of layers of reusable APIs backed with Java microservices. The security framework used OpenID Connect for authentication and authorisation; we wrote the front end web app with ReactJS.Digital Security Platform for a top-rated Global Retail Bank (Dec 2017 – Aug 2018):As technical lead, I delivered the front-line security framework for one of the largest global banks. We applied CI/CD principles to massively streamline the build and deployment process of the vendor product. We also successfully delivered a DevOps delivery model consisting of Docker containerisation of the application and deployment into a Kubernetes cluster in AWS.

Tech lead for delivery of web app for one of the UK’s leading Pension Providers (Jun 2016 – Nov 2017), 3 scrum teams were in my scope. Front end AngularJS, back end Java 1.8, Dropwizard. Fully Agile / XP environment.Based on legislation changes, our client needed to change its business model for selling retirement plans in less than a year. Their new business model relied heavily on a new web application. Our role involved User-centric Requirements Engineering, User Experience and Agile development practices. We used a strict TDD methodology to ensure the highest quality coding standards. The platform heavily leveraged Java 8 microservices with an Oracle back-end and Angular-Bootstrap user interface. Automated testing was key to the successful delivery of this project.

iOS / Android hybrid Work Management app Technical Lead:I was project lead for delivery of a complete redesign of the user interface of the company’s flagship Mobile Work Management app. The entire product’s UI was refreshed and given a modern look-and-feel using Ionic Framework. Performance of the app was improved by switching from jQuery to AngularJS.iPhone / Android hybrid app backend framework redesign:As technical lead for the project I analysed performance bottlenecks throughout the stack and completely re-engineered the existing design. By replacing SOAP with REST and changing server-caching to streaming, I massively improved the performance of the existing product.Agile business processes:I introduced Agile software development processes to a business that had no experience of Agile/Scrum. This greatly increased the rate of releases and enhanced the software development lifecycle.

Overview:I was the lead developer for a major project to implement IBM Maximo Asset Management. I used my extensive technical knowledge to make extensive Java and SQL Server customisations. As part of the Business Systems team, I designed, built and customised one single Maximo environment that incorporated PFI / PPP facilities contracts in market sectors as diverse as Schools, Police, LiFT Health, and Local Authority.Management:At John Laing I was focussed on requirements gathering, development, testing, and implementing a new change control process. I efficiently dealt with high-priority software issues and risks. I project managed contract mobilisations, produced Gantt charts and administered team resourcing.

Technical Role - Database:As we mobilised new contracts I migrated data into SQL Server from legacy systems using an ETL methodology. Other projects included SQL Server Performance optimisation, profiling, redesign of indexes, tables, views, triggers and stored procedures.Technical Role - Application:I designed and built several custom applications using Java 1.5, ASP Classic VBScript, ASP.NET, XML, XHTML, and CSS. My main achievement was to create a custom Maximo application that streamlined the process of calculating the Payment Mechanism deductions for the contract in real-time.
