Cloud/Infrastructure Architect

• Employed as a subject matter expert (SME) for a variety of Citrix technologies within the Network Operations Centre, providing 3rd/4th line support for Managed Services customers.• Role comprised of a mix of incident and problem resolution as well as proactive recommendations and upgrades to customer environments and some project work• Installation, configuration and maintenance of new servers and applications; daily monitoring of the infrastructure to ensure availability and optimal performance of the Citrix farms and underlying infrastructure and creating configuration and support documentation for new systems and services.
Citrix & Wintel Support
• Providing cover for a Desktop migration project, supporting around 4000 users split across two separate domains and operating environments; one a virtualised Citrix XenApp system, the other a traditional Windows XP workstation and laptop configuration• Part of a large internal support team responsible for managing all Wintel servers, MS Exchange, Lotus Domino and all Citrix and vSphere systems. Also responsible for management of printing and mobile device support - including iPhones, iPads and Blackberries connected to BES.• Supporting applications within the virtualised environment which are deployed via a combination of Microsoft App-V and Citrix XenApp, and range from bespoke, in-house packages to off-the-shelf solutions such as MS Office & Adobe Acrobat & Captivate. • In-house service desk supporting over 300 offices and associated Regional Service Centres throughout the UK, for a leading Insurance and Financial Services provider. • Since April 2010, I’ve been the primary Service Delivery representative for a Desktop Virtualisation pilot. Key responsibilities include: Roll-out and technical support for the User base, involving management of Desktop & Server environments through Citrix XenDesktop, VMWare Infrastructure Client and RDP; management of backup/restore procedures for the NetApp-based SAN & NetBackup server; On-site assistance and development of processes, documentation and an SOE for Windows XP & Windows 7.• Assumed role of implementation manager for an iPhone pilot – Configuring and deploying the devices to company directors and upper-management. Have developed processes, security policies & documentation unique to NFUM, and have provided on-going support for user base.• Development of various scripts (Batch, HTA and VB) to aid in day-to-day tasks such as workstation maintenance, applying software fixes & performing system diagnostics, after identifying a lack of automation on the Service Desk for these relatively simple but tedious issues.• Utilising remote management tools, including RDP and Tivoli, for the purposes of remote software installation and fixes
