Our mission is to interrupt the cycle of violence among the lives of youth and young adults in North Lawndale, through the power of arts and faith. We hire and recruit the most violent young men in women in four focus areas in North Lawndale, youth and young adults, most likely to shoot someone or to get shot between the ages of 17 and 30 . This is our violent interruption, work, called very important process (Our VIP program) We serve over 100 youth and young adults caught in this life per year to guide them towards another direction where they can live on purpose, walk in authority, on the strength of their character. This is done through mentoring, therapy, goal setting, social emotional learning and workforce development. Our second arm of our work is our violence prevention called Spark arts, this is where we reach young people between the ages of 11 to 24 in which we spark new flames, one life at a time through heavy engagement of seven different various art forms. Young people come to The Firehouse after school they come throughout the summer and we have classes in the schools as well.
