He managed a team of up to 10 Performance Testers, Engineers and Test Managers. This included both permanent and contract employees. Phil was personally involved in the large testing projects to migrate key systems from Legacy Hardware to a new Virtualised Critical Hosting Platform. During these projects Phil managed the performance testing and led the investigation into performance issues. Phil also stepped in and turned around two projects which were in trouble and managed to get performance testing completed and issues resolved to the customer’s satisfaction before Go-Live• Reviewing all Client Work Packages to assess if they needed Performance Testing• Providing Test Estimates for all Performance Test Engagements• Managing Team of resources to meeting all performance testing requests.• Working with Architects and SME’s to understand applications and identify key areas for testing• Analysing Test Results and making recommendations to application teams to improve performance• Investigation into complex performance issues• Managing client Architects and Test Assurance resources to set expectations of testing and explain results• Managing Hardware and License requirements for all performance testing across the account Show less

He was responsible for a team of 12 people of Performance Tester and Engineers, and also ran an offshore team in Chennai. As well as internal testing Phil also helped organise and participated in a large external benchmark aim at 40,000 concurrent users of the system in conjunction with HP, Intel and Microsoft. Here Phil was the key resource involving in communicating issues between the development and management teams to ensure that the most critical issues where being resolved. Phil and his team’s key responsibilities were • Managing Resources across the account to ensure that all performance testing needs were met. • Designing and running all performance tests on the account on systems up to 10,000 users• Providing direct updates on system capacity against the user deployment model to the CTO.• Providing direct update to client on testing strategy and progress• Setting client expectations and negotiations on test scope.• Working with SQL CAT team from Microsoft (Redmond) to investigate complex SQL servers scalability issues. This work resulted in SQL issuing a several Hotfixes to SQL Server• Profiling business processes and tuning any poor SQL stored procedures that would breach any SLA threshold.• Liaising with our development teams on procedure or database schema changes made to improve the performance of the product (Issue management).• Reviewing and suggesting database design changes.
