I joined the British Army in 1964 and served in many different countries on many different continents learning much about working with people from all walks of life. I was lucky to serve on 2 Government committees dealing with the construction and security of buildings. I came to South Africa in 1983 and worked for the Standard Bank/Liberty Group until 2003 when I bought out the main shareholding in Safeguard Chemicals South Africa. Since then I have been actively involved in the inspection of buildings and the training of contractors in damp-proofing & waterproofing. I was elected Chairman of the Damp-proofing & Waterproofing Association of Southern Africa in 2016 and in 2020 was invited to be a member of the Working Committee of the Board of Agrements South Africa.
