Since March 2022 worked as one of 3 DM Team Leaders at PCC. Following a recent restructure now leading the majors team helping to deliver the city’s strong growth agenda which includes major SUEs such as Great Haddon, the city’s new university, Station Quarter and other prestigious city centre sites. PCC now has its sights set on quality as well as growth. I have set up and run our monthly internal design review panel and am involved in upskilling our team in urban design skills, and embedding the use of tools such as Building for a Healthy Life.

South Kesteven District Council

I started as a Planning Technician within South Kesteven's Planning Policy Team dealing mainly with GIS, but also compiling the Council's annual monitoring report, and research including identifying and compiling database of brownfield sites within district.Became trainee planning officer in 2007 working within development management, studying for a masters degree at Sheffield Hallam on day release. I graduated in 2011 and gained full RTPI membership in 2012. Since then I had several years experience as principal planning officer at SKDC dealing with major applications of all types and leading a team of development management officers. Followed by a spell as “Planning Operations Lead” deputising for the head of DM. In 2019 I took on the role of Special Projects Manager - leading onall the major developments in South Kesteven including 2 x garden villages, a designer outlet village and a number of resi and mixed use SUEs. At SKDC I gained awide range of development management experience in dealing with all types of planning applications and planning issues, including residential, commercial, large scale renewable energy schemes, EIA development, gypsy and traveller sites, section 106 agreements, conservation, complex appeals etc. Between 2019 and 2022 I was more focussed on large scale residential and mixed use schemes within SKDC which has a strong growth agenda.I have also contributed to policy development including a previous version of SKDC’s Wind Energy SPD and a major SUE development brief SPD.In my top me at SKDC I also managed a team of planners dealing with all types of applications and organised and lead development management training sessions with both officers and Members to share best practice.At SKDC I took a strong interest in all aspects of planning and "placemaking" including current issues such as viability and the implications of the raft of legislative and govt guidance changes.
