Part of the leadership team for Pew's Student Loan Initiative. Lead strategy development for Pew's emerging body of higher education work. Oversee major qualitative and survey research projects to better understand student loan default and the reasons veterans borrow despite having access to the robust Post-9/11 G.I. Bill.

Previously part of the management team of a division at Pew that focuses on the intersection between state and federal policy across a range of issue areas. Led the division’s work on higher education, transportation policy, and tax and budget policy among other areas, and played a central role in shaping its research plan and strategic direction. Oversaw successful execution of a major student loan research initiative focused on student loan default and veterans' educational debt.

Lead analyst on education finance and property tax issues among other areas related to the impact of state tax and budget policy on the lives of low and moderate income families. Initiated and oversaw the development of major research projects, authored blog posts, participated in media interviews, provided policy advice to advocates and policymakers, and organized conferences and other meetings.

One of a select group of graduates from top public policy schools hired to work in New York State’s executive budget office. Focused on issues related to education and the state's relationship with local governments. Played a key role in shaping the expansion of New York’s $5 billion property tax relief program to target additional relief to the middle class, and provided extensive analysis related to a major education finance lawsuit brought against the state by an interest group representing New York City.

Worked in a number of public elementary, middle, and high schools, guest teaching English lessons as an employee of the Osaka City Board of Education.

Taught social studies and reading comprehension to sixth graders at a small, tuition-free, urban independent school catering to students from low income families.
