Following the merger with Bowater Paper, I reported to the Managing Director and lead theTechnical Service team providing technical service/support and trouble shooting for newspaper/magazine printers and publishers in mainland Europe, Latin America, Middle East. Communicate directly with technical and manufacturing teams at paper mills to improve paper quality, manufacturing processes and reduce waste. Provided technical service and support for a range of paper mills importing paper into the UK including a number of US and Canadian suppliers to the UK at the time. Employed by them to ensure that the paper not only arrived into the country in good condition, but also arrived at the customer pressrooms, in a timely manner, again in satisfactory condition and performed and printed well on press.

Developed close working relationships with the Canadian paper mills supplying European and world markets, to improve product quality and reduce shipping and transit damage. Newcastle Chronicle, part of Thomson Regional Newspapers.Responsible for managing the installation of the first Goss Colorliner presses in the UK.Operational line responsibility reporting to Production Director, for day to day production of pressroom staff of 30, print quality, press training, troubleshooting press problems, press maintenance, optimizing raw material performance and stock control etc.

Joined as Pressroom Manager Mirror Color Print Watford, as part of the technology transfer and start up team to bring 10 MAN Roland Colorman 70,000 copies per hour full colour presses into full production producing 1.5million copies produced in two sections each day/night to tight deadlines, 7 days per week.Promoted to Press Room Manager Mirror Colour Print Oldham and responsible for starting up and bringing into full production 6 MAN Roland Colorman 70,000 copies per hour full colour presses printing 800k copies per night. Responsible for the smooth running of the Press Room, meeting quality standards meeting tight print deadlines, staff of 50 +.On behalf of Mirror Newspapers went to Nation Newspapers, Nairobi, Kenya to assist with start up of a single width 8 unit Harris 845 press. Delivered improved print quality controls, working practices, the press was regularly producing the first four colour newspaper in the country.

PrinterWorked on Hally Aller single width, color press and double width Crabtree Crusader. At the time Shropshire Star were the leaders in full colour offset printing for newspapers using cold set and UV ink drying technology.
