JanisULT is the new name for Janis Research Company following the sale of their laboratory cryogenics business to Lake Shore Cryotronics. JanisULT will continue the commercialisation of the ULT range of products which include Dilution refrigerators, 3He refrigerators and ADR refrigerators.My role will be to define and lead the commercial strategy of the new business, to develop a product and technology roadmap to exploit growing market opportunities for Ultra Low Temperature platforms, and to lead the sales, marketing and new product development teams.

Following the merger of Oxford Instruments Nanoscience division and Omicron Nanotechnology, I headed up the sales team for our business to end-user customers, primarily universities and Government research laboratories.

Responsible for sales to all regions with the exception of US and Japan.

Initially handling the transition of the closure of our sales and service office in France, through to a direct sales territory. Managing direct sales into France and Iberia. Later the regional coverage was extended to include Benelux, Asia Pacific and Russia (via network of agents) and direct sales into Israel.

Responsible for all sales to Scandinavia, Spain, Eastern Europe, Russia, Middle East and India, working with agents and distributors in the majority of these territories.

Project manager / engineer, working at ISIS, the neutron spallation source. I worked as part of a multi-disciplinary team whose task it was to specify, design and build a new neutron beam-line experiment. My responsibilities involved mechanical design and analysis, project management and liaising with project scientists to define and optimise beamline specifications.

“Fast-track” development scheme of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers designed to achieve chartered engineer status in 4 years. The comprehensive post-graduate training scheme involved placements in most departments of this research laboratory providing a broad-based engineering training, including design; workshop training; advanced materials; structural and thermal analysis; quality assurance; and project management. Some examples of projects worked on include thermal design of satellite instrumentation, finite element stress analysis on composite superconducting coil structures for CERN Atlas magnet end-caps, quality assurance database development for the space science department and design and test of prototype ultra-high power laser components.
