I love promoting ideas. I hate promoting myself. So here are six quick things about me and what I do. In, out, nobody gets hurt.1) Yes, I have spent a lot of time working in one or two places. It happens. But I’ve done a bit of everything. Served customers, managed teams, ran projects. And a fair bit of writing, too. It turns out you can be well-rounded without wearing out your shoe leather.2) I’m a slight word-nerd, but not to the point of getting in the way of the message. While I’ll happily debate fronted adverbials and dangling participles with you (I tend not to get invited to dinner parties a second time), for me it’s more important to just be clear.3) I got my current job by sending my soon-to-be bosses a copy of a book of short stories I wrote, to show that (a) I can do creative, and (b) it’s all about the circulation. Thanks.)4) It’s rare to find people who love to stand up and confidently present to an audience, and also sit in front of a problem for hours and diligently crack it open. Hello, I’m Phil. Both sides of my brain seem to get on with each other.5) This is how I sum up what I do. I look at how people feel today. Then I think about how we want them to feel tomorrow. And then I put words together to make that happen. 6) I love doing this. Which is just as well, as aside from copywriting I’m borderline unemployable.
