Alternated Quarry Manager – I have recently been the alternate Quarry Manager for BHP Billiton’s newest Iron Ore mine – Jimblebar. Details include daily workplace inspections, being accountable for corrective action to rectify non-compliant environments, driving a culture of positive behaviours of compliance to legislation and direct reporting to the DMP.Safety – ensuring a Zero Harm workplace for all employees. Implementation of safety plans and programs to achieve Zero Harm including Taproot investigation, Root Cause Analysis training, ICAM incident investigation tools, hazard identification, risk assessment and controls of risks.Development, implementation and compliance with monthly mining production schedules and daily plans. Co-ordinating the Continuous Improvement systems and using tools such as Fleet Management Systems (Modular, Jigsaw, Minestar) to analyse and improve performance, 5S, Standardised Work and facilitating LEAN training, to add value to the business. I am also Yellow Belt qualified in six sigma.Providing effective contractor management and supervision of contactors, and also having a vast knowledge of contactor performance.Managing the personnel in mining teams for owner/miner companies, using performance review systems and processes, developing/implementing succession planning for senior personnel, coaching/mentoring/performance management of personnel and elevating/recruiting new supervisors and leading hands.Legal compliance, (I have held the position of DMP site responsible person on both the Explosives and SRS Storage Licence’s).Vast experience with shovel and truck mining operations for many years, including crest and slope awareness, wall stabilisation/wall control via trim blasts, grade control drilling, GET consumables, pit engineering and planning, optimum fragmentation, in-pit dewatering, cost management and minimising ore dilution. I have been in line-management roles for past 10 years.
