Responsibility for delivery of two of sub-sea tools for STATOIL, to be used on the Åsgard Transport 42” Pipeline Project. The first being a diver-less, hydraulically manipulated tool required to deliver a 26t Split Repair Clamp to 600 M.S.W. My involvement included all conceptual design, design calculations, detail design, production of fabrication drawings, component pre-procurement engineering and the pursuit of mechanical completion. The second, a Coupling Carrier Module (CCM), was utilized as a diver-less installation and manipulation tool for a 42” 30000kg Morgrip Coupling. The tool was capable of repair and hook-up of pipelines between 16” and 42” at depths in excess of 180-600 M.S.W. Both modules were remote controlled from surface. Personal scope of work entailed: Conceptual design for tendering, Outline specifications, Design restraints, General assembly, Budget control, Project scheduling, Engineering follow-up, Tender design, Tendering for Coupling Carrier Module, involving responsibility as Technical representative for clarification meetings with client. After successful tendering – leading to contract award, personally responsible for: Complete Detail design of the sub-sea tool, utilising Microstation J to 3D Model. Design calculations for dynamic mechanical, structural and hydraulic sub-systems. Technical point of contact for internal client (Statoil). Definition of Assembly/Factory Acceptance Testing.

Engagement as structural engineer on the MS West Navion project for Smedvig. Site visits with surveying leading to modification recommendations and new structures where necessary for approval of DNV. Structural and mechanical handling disciplines, with design to NORSOK standards, arrangement and detail drawing production on Autocad R14 and Microstation 95. Production of Fabrication Piping design ISOs. Total responsibility for production of calculation/certification packs for DNV approval. Assignment completed two months before planned completion.

Initial engagement as 3D modeller on Hydro VISUND oil platform using Microstation with ModelDraft, leading to Design Engineering (Structural), Including field checking and analysis for As-built completion. Strong involvement in production of Stress packages (inc. all related ISOs), field checking of Structures and supports. Piping ISO creation from field surveys. Finally total responsibility for creation of ‘Knowledge Base Transfer’ report, enabling Umoe to take engineering knowledge gained from Visund and apply it to Troll C Floating Production Unit. Including all analysis, surveying, liaison with Process, Materials, Field, Structural, Piping, and stress disciplines. Experience with Frameworks.
