The first being a diver-less, hydraulically manipulated tool required to deliver a 26t Split Repair Clamp to 600 M.S.W. My involvement included all conceptual design, design calculations, detail design, production of fabrication drawings, component pre-procurement engineering and the pursuit of mechanical completion. The second, a Coupling Carrier Module (CCM), was utilized as a diver-less installation and manipulation tool for a 42” 30000kg Morgrip Coupling. The tool was capable of repair and hook-up of pipelines between 16” and 42” at depths in excess of 180-600 M.S.W. Both modules were remote controlled from surface. Personal scope of work entailed: Conceptual design for tendering, Outline specifications, Design restraints, General assembly, Budget control, Project scheduling, Engineering follow-up, Tender design, Tendering for Coupling Carrier Module, involving responsibility as Technical representative for clarification meetings with client. After successful tendering – leading to contract award, personally responsible for: Complete Detail design of the sub-sea tool, utilising Microstation J to 3D Model. Design calculations for dynamic mechanical, structural and hydraulic sub-systems. Technical point of contact for internal client (Statoil). Definition of Assembly/Factory Acceptance Testing.
