Mirexus was a start-up company commercializing a breakthrough new nanomaterial. Nanomaterials are materials made from ultra-small particles and they offer enormous potential for a wide variety of applications. However, two major factors have restricted the adoption of conventional (synthetic) nanotechnology:• the high cost of making synthetic nanomaterials • the hazardous nature (toxicity) of synthetic nanoparticles. Mirexus solved these problems by developing a new nanomaterial that is extracted from sweet corn, is affordable, and is completely safe (edible). It's the world’s only safe, non-toxic, edible, organic, mono-disperse nanomaterial (patented) … that you can grow in the field next door! The material was commercialized under the tradename "PhytoSpherix" and sold globally to the personal care and OTC pharma markets. In 2022 Mirexus was sold to a global personal care company.
