I was responsible for managing the implementation of major infrastructure and application upgrades to improve the reliability and reduce risk within the business. I co-ordinated the IT service delivery resources and business alignment of IT across the Australia/ Pacific sites. This role required me to work with senior business management and the local IT staff across the ANZ region to ensure IT services were aligned, efficient and to maximise the IT investment benefits to the business. During this time, I worked on building a single IT team culture (previously silo’d teams), introduced an IT Governance model, implemented a national IT Service Desk facility and implemented initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the IT service provision to the business, based on ITIL principles.

I was engaged to establish a new IT department and to manage the transition of all IT functions from an existing outsource arrangement to the new in-house operation. At the strategic level, I was responsible for strategic planning and business integration, developing ICT policies and processes, building an effective support team and ensuring that government legislation and standards were met. At a tactical level, I was responsible for implementing a new Windows 2003 based infrastructure, establishing hardware and software standards, undertaking the purchase, implementation, support and ongoing development of corporate-wide & venue-specific applications and establishing ongoing support and management processes.

In July 2001, I was promoted to a senior position within the Crane Group Ltd parent company. My role was to oversee the ‘greenfield‘ design, implementation and ongoing management of the Windows desktop and server technology associated with the group-wide introduction of JD Edwards ‘OneWorld’. The design and deployment encompassed a Windows 2000 SOE rollout across 9 companies, 350 sites and 3,500 users and the construction of a central data centre to provide corporate-wide applications via an enterprise scale Citrix solution. I was accountable for technical architecture, strategies and policies, outsource vendor selection, rollout planning, project management, issue management & purchasing standards.
