Responsible for recruiting, performance management, mentoring, supervision, training and appraisals. Responsible for providing an exceptional standard of care and opportunity for all students; backed up by a robust quality auditing programme for the care provision including the reporting of weekly, monthly and annual KPIs to Head Office.Operational management (including Registered Manager responsibility) for nine homes registered as one children's home with Ofsted.Member of Purbeck View School Senior Leadership Team and member of Cambian Education Care Working Party.Part of pre-placement referral assessments team.Responsible for managing a complex staff team made up of 52 week and 38 week staff composed of full time, part time, bank and agency staff some of which are seasonal in nature due to location. Established a key relationship with a local staffing agency in Poole.Responsible for completing and updating Dorset County Council Safeguarding Audit for Schools.Chaired multi-disciplinary meetings reviewing student progress, including a high priority caseload based on weekly individual risk assessments.Deputy Designated Safeguarding Person and one of several Complaints Officers for the school.Wrote new statement of pupose to reflect the new Children's Home Regulations and Quality Standards. The School and Children's Home are both recognised as Outstanding by Ofsted.As Deputy Director I work very closely with the Director to ensure operational and strategic objectives are achieved, and that the high quality service that The Shires has built its reputation on is maintained.I co-facilitate the student council which meets fortnightly. The council is open to all students, both verbal and non-verbal. Together we have a decision making role in the school, along with providing a forum to explore communication and social interaction.I also have responsible for The Shires adult provision based at Millfield House, a newly refurbished 6 bedroom home for young adults in Lincolnshire.

I had the privileged task of leading a specialist facility for group psychotherapeutic work with children and adolescents. With over 20 years experience I headed a team of dedicated professionals working within a field that bridges the social care and mental health needs of severely traumatised teenagers.Under my leadership we were recognised by Ofsted as an 'Outstanding' provision.As Clinical Lead I was responsible for the therapeutic group and individual work which underpinned Thornby's success in supporting children's recovery from their past experiences of trauma, abuse and neglect. I facilitated the daily Community Meeting with the young people and staff, which was an intensive and challenging forum for the sharing of children's lived (and often unconsciously expressed) experience and for reflection and mutual learning. Other group forums such as boys and girls groups, small groups, staff dynamics groups and family meetings further supported the community's ability to provide containment and understanding in the face of chaos and anxiety.
