Project: Haughton Pump Station 2Responsible for the project management and administration of the project for the design stage; concept design, issue for tender (IFT) and issue for construction (IFC) phases.The Haughton Pipeline Project will enable Townsville to replenish the reservoir at Ross River Dam with water drawn from the Burdekin River and pumped via a new pump station and 65.5km pipeline. The overall project objective is to deliver a performance proven water transport system capable of sustainably, reliably, and economically transferring 364 megalitres per day (ML/d) from the Burdekin River to the Ross River Dam. Stantec are responsible for the design of the Burdekin Pump Station (and associated deliverables), comprising of the following components:• River Intake: to draw water from the Burdekin River and convey it to a low-lift pump station wet well.• Low-lift pump station: to lift the water from the river intake to ground level sedimentation tanks.• High-lift pump station: to deliver water from the sedimentation tanks to the Haughton pipeline (also referred to as the mainline).

Contract No. HY/2011/08 - Tunnel Buildings, Systems and Fittings, and works associated with Tunnel CommissioningThe works in this package mainly include:◾Construction of Tunnel Buildings, i.e. West Ventilation Building (WVB), Middle Ventilation Building (MVB), East Ventilation Building (EVB), East Vent Shaft (EVS) and Administration Building (ADB), including structure and building services;◾Installation of route-wide tunnel E&M works (including fire services installations);◾Installation of route-wide TCSS works;◾Construction of tunnel cladding works;◾Testing and commissioning.

Notable projects:Spring Gully Pond C (Qld):Project Manager for the close out of the detailed design phase, plus procurement and construction phases. The project comprised of a 4-cell pond system for storage of brine (4 x 400ML lined ponds), 3.6km twin small dia. pipelines and associated pump station. Talinga Pond C (Qld):Brisbane based Project Manager for the detailed design phase and construction phases. The project comprised of a single cell pond system for storage of brine (450ML lined pond), 1.8km interpond transfer pipelines and associated pump station. An integrated approach to the design of three areas (storage pond system, pump station and transfer pipe system) was required to develop a robust new system containing high level of safety and functionality.

Singapore based Project Manager for the detailed design and construction support phases of the Doha North Wastewater Treatment Plant (DN-WWTP) project; the largest project undertaken in the MWH Singapore office. When commissioned in 2013, the DN-WWTP was rated as the largest WWTP in Qatar; a US$1Billion DBO scheme. With an average design capacity of 245 Ml/day (for a future population of 1.125million), the DN-WWTP works include inlet-works, BNR treatment plant, tertiary treatment using ultrfiltration, chlorination, aerobic digestion, thermal drying sludge treatment and storage facilities, odour control, ancillary pumping stations, pipework, roads and landscaping.

Superintendent's Representative for the Gold Coast Rapid Transit Early Enabling Works (Roadworks South). The project delivered major roadwork modifications including earthworks, drainage, paving, property resumption and modification works, relocation of major services, retaining walls, lighting, traffic signals and landscaping on the Gold Coast Highway between Surfers Paradise Boulevard and Broadbeach. The Early Enabling Works were undertaken as a separate work contract package prior to the DBO for construction of the Gold Coast Light Rail system (Phase 1).

Key duties of the post were to assess and prepare claim assessment reports to the Employer, review of Contract conditions and procedures, review / resolution of disputes, review of construction programmes, disruption and cost related claims, etc. The Stonecutters Bridge is a 1.6km long dual 3-lane cable stayed road bridge with a 1,018m main span. The Bridge towers rise 298m above the pile caps with the main deck 73.5m (min’m) above the Rambler Channel.

Responsible for the overall administration of the Program and general program management, quality & risk management, human resources management and safety (WH&S) aspects of the Program. Responsible for providing direction for the Alliance in respect of the formulation and maintenance of the structure of the project/program controls plan. The PCWF Alliance was created to deliver an innovative wastewater and recycled water project for the northern areas of the Gold Coast. The Program comprised 4 major components namely Infrastructure Delivery, Asset Management, Water Business, and an intensive Community and Stakeholder Engagement component.

Resident Engineer (Contracts) responsible for the contract claims administration and management of the construction programme for the project. Key duties of the post were to assess and prepare claim assessment reports to the Employer, review of Contract conditions and procedures, preparation of progress reports, review / resolution of disputes, assessment of delay recovery measures, review of construction programmes, monitoring of the progress of the Works, quarterly assessment of the Contractor’s performance, etc.The project comprised the construction of approx’ 2 km long dual two-lane Trunk Road T3 with associated slope works, on/off ramps, fully enclosed noise barriers, et al. The Sha Tin Heights Tunnel, which forms part of Route 8 and is the fourth external road tunnel link from Sha Tin, together with the Road T3 in Sha Tin provides the essential link between Route 8 and the high-speed road networks in the northeast New Territories. The road works which completed in early 2008 help relieve the traffic pressure on Lion Rock Tunnel, Shing Mun Tunnels, Tate’s Cairn Tunnel and Tai Po Road.

Engineer’s Representative (& Resident Engineer) for over 2½ years for the administration and supervision of the construction of bored pile retaining walls (1m, 2m & 3m dia.), major storm drain and stream course works, watermain diversion works (600mm dia & 1000mm dia), natural terrain hazard mitigation works, site clearance and earthworks, preservation of existing trees (incl. an historic 100yr old Banyan Tree), landscaping works, etc, to form the site for a future housing development.

Resident Engineer (Civil/Contracts) on the Strategic Sewage Disposal Scheme (SSDS) Stage 1.Administration and supervision of the civil engineering component of upgrading 6 Preliminary Treatment Works (PTW’s) under the SSDS Stage I. The Contract involved the upgrading of coarse screen and fine screen facilities, wash compactors, detritors, grit removal and outlet flow facilities, and the construction of the channels that lead into vortex drop shafts connecting to the SSDS Stage I tunnel system (3Nos. of tunnel contracts). The civil works also included the construction of admin’, E&M buildings and workshops with architectural finishes such as helical staircases, louvres, sub-floor cable conduits, fire service and air-conditioning systems, etc.Administration and supervision of major remedial works to the SSDS Main Pumping Station (SCIMPS) at Stonecutters Island STW, water testing of the wet well areas, completion of the Works, and interface with E&M and tunnel contracts. The main pumping station (SCIMPS) consists of a circular/ring wet well (with a common inlet chamber of 50m depth) and a dry well located central to the wet well where 8 No. pumps connect to the twin wet well circular sumps. Administration and supervision of construction works to the SSDS Stage I Outfall comprising the completion of outstanding marine works and the rectification of the sub-sea rock armour defence barrier surrounding the diffuser pipeline (approx’ 1,200m length), rectification of defects to the outfall diffusers (24 Nos.) and diffuser pipeline, seawall (rock armour) rectification works on Stonecutters Island. Also appointed as the Resident Engineer responsible for the commissioning phases of the Stage 1 Outfall in late 2001. Administration and assessment of contract claims associated with 4 Nos. of contracts (Civil and E&M) which made up approximately HK$2 billion of the value of the SSDS Stage I Project.Note: SSDS was renamed HATS in 2002; Harbour Area Treatment Scheme.

North West Kowloon Sewerage Stage 2 and Stage 2 (Phase 1):Responsible for the project management and contract administration for the Contract which included the construction of over 12,000 metres of Foul Sewers and Storm Drains in the busy Kowloon urban districts. Also project managed traffic and highway studies, traffic management plans, approvals of temporary traffic arrangements for urban trench works, and cost/benefit studies in Hong Kong and Ningbo, China.
