The Green Howards (Princess of Wales own regiment of Yorkshire) was the 19th regiment of foot (Infantry). It has served the country in many theatres and aspects continuously from 1688 to 2006 when it was amalgamated by defence cuts and became part of The Yorkshire Regiment. During continued cuts in defence spending the Green Howards were finally consigned to the history books in 2013 when the 2nd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment (Green Howards) was also disbanded with the merger of 3 battalions into 2.
