The objective of EdTech Learning is to provide learners from K-12 to Colleges and Universities the opportunity to learn in a skills-based environment through assisting content developers in utilizing the latest technology (including adaptive learning paths through a lesson based on not only cognitive assessment but also on a sophisticated mechanism for measuring the learners emotions at a rate of once per second), thus providing a more complete set of data upon which to base adaptive learning decisions. EdTech Learning also works with Makerspaces, Educational game developers, university and outreach programs, and community gatherings to help organize education-based projects and events as well as to identify potential funding sources for these activities.

Worked with selected start-up companies to ensure successful completion of a functional EdTech minimum viable product, while ensuring that product development follows an agile approach and best software development practices. Helped the companies develop beneficial relationships with larger established EdTech companies. The end goal was to help position the start-ups to receive further angel and venture capital funding.While I no longer work specifically with BoomStartup I have maintained an ongoing relationship with the companies in which I did invest.

Provide leadership and management to multiple Software Development Managers at four development locations, managing a total staff of approximately 45 individuals (not counting both onshore and offshore contractors). Provide technical oversight, including the incorporation of modern TechOps procedures as well as automated Continuous Integration building and testing of iOS and Android mobile applications. Work with Product Management to ensure that our products meet our internal and external Pearson customer requirements. Work with Executive Management to help determine budgets, personnel requirements, technical direction of our mobile product lines, etc.The total number of downloads and updates from the iOS App and Google Play Stores of mobile applications developed by my team exceeds 6.5 million. Innovation projects designed and executed by my teams have won multiple awards within Pearson, we're Hackathon winners, and we have multiple patents pending acceptance at the U.S. Patents and Trademarks office, with some already accepted.Additionally, we have helped design and code a Java-based translation/aggregation layer for traditional Pearson web services to help provide a more rewarding and smoothly running user experience for our students. Have developed local execution frameworks as well as SDKs utilizing Restful Web Services to facilitate internal use of our software, and published that content to our internal Pearson Developers network.

Analyzed different products that could be spun off from SimAuthor's FlightViz product. Produced an Airport Familiarization product that was purchased by Continental Airlines. Negotiated with Evans and Sutherland to use their terrain (immediately surrounding the airport), airport, runway, and lighting/signaling system visual databases to be integrated with our FlightViz and Airport Familiarization programs.

I started working at Wicat managing Instructional Designers, Computer Graphics Artists, Software Developers and Software Quality Engineers in the development of computer-based learning products across various industries. Within three months of the start of my employment with Wicat I was managing developers in Seattle, WA (we had approximately 75 individuals working at Boeing), Orem, UT, Raleigh, NC, and Camberley, England. I had the responsibility helping to establish annual budgets and manage each office to that budget, including monthly reporting.In 1997 I was transferred to the company headquarters in Orem, UT and promoted to the position of Sr. Vice President. During this time Wicat narrowed our focus to exclusively develop products for the aviation industry, including e-learning products for pilots, maintenance engineers, and flight attendants. I became more fully involved in large sales efforts, including locating and closing a multi-million deal. I was also responsible for launching a successful new line of in-house e-learning products and simulations of most all aircraft functions. We also broadened our focus and began production of cockpit mock-up components as well as FAA-approved Level 5 Flight Training Devices.I also participated in the development of two authoring systems (one designed for a multi-user mini computer and the other designed for stand-alone operation on a PC based on scripts written and assets specified in a word processing document what was then transferred to a database before producing the executable lesson files). Assisted in the design and development of a Learning Management System.

Began work at Syscon as a Cobol/JCL programmer, but was quickly transferred to our office adjoined with the Naval Research Center in Orlando, FL. to manage all aspects of e-learning product development.
