As region head, I spearheaded sales and managed operations and their place within the regional P&L. Key business lines included managed hosting, security services, content delivery, storage solutions, and applications management. The Hong Kong-based team comprised 30 people in sales, marketing, bid management, business development, data centre operations, and administration.- Took Asia from lowest to highest performing sales office per head of sales in just over one quarter. Average new contract value per sales head doubled to US $600,000. Customers included Cisco, MTV Asia, Microsoft, and E-Trade. - Simultaneously slashed costs by merging C&W telecoms nodes into the Digital Island data centre.- Successfully oversaw the local merger of Digital Island’s Asia operations into Cable & Wireless Asia.

The partner provided local knowledge and contacts. As Red Herring said in a feature in September 2001, “Orientation.com has done more with $12 million than most Internet companies would have with $120 million.” Orientation.com received New York’s prestigious Silicon Alley Fast 50 award from Deloitte Touche.- Successfully launched 6 regional Web sites, and 35 country sites in 18 languages including Chinese, Russian, Thai, Hindi, Spanish, and French. 30 of these sites became the first or second most popular Web sites in each country generating millions of impressions without spending millions of dollars.- Built revenue-generating business relationships with Internet leaders across the world- Part of the investor road show – helped raise US$12 million in finance. - Oversaw aspects of product development including Web & WAP sites and Orientation.com’s own instant messenger. Marketing ManagerAsia Online Sep 1996 - May 1998Asia Online was Hong Kong’s first commercial Internet Service Provider and the leading ISP in Hong Kong in the mid nineties.- Created and executed marketing plan for Asia Online Finance, Asia’s first stock market information site, offering detailed current, fundamental and historical data on nine exchanges across the region signing up over 1000 subscribers in first quarter after launch.- Played integral role in Asia Online Finance front end design, product structure and user interface.- Launched the Dataphile, Hong Kong’s first Internet magazine, which was first published in 1993 and purchased by Asia Online in 1996, into Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, the Philippines and Thailand creating Asia’s first regional English language Internet publication.- Pioneered the use of the magazine as a customer loyalty tool by adding Asia Online’s subscribers to the circulation list. In my tenure I quintupled the circulation.- Launched one of the first downloadable radio shows in Hong Kong. The Dataphile on Air was a local bilingual radio show featuring the latest Internet news, gossip and opinion. It was available as a delayed stream and a download on the Metro Radio, Dataphile, and Asia Online Web sites. I was also an ad-hoc reporter for the show.
