Channel 5 is Britain's fifth public service broadcaster and reaches 4 in 5 of the UK viewing public each month. Channel 5 delivers a broad mix of popular content, including factual programming, entertainment, reality, live sport (Boxing, football, NFL etc), and a variety of news/studio-based programming. Also included under the Five umbrella is Paramount, 5Star, 5USA, 5Select & Milkshake (for children). Responsibilities include, operating a multitude of playout systems/apparatus to agreed procedures, manual maintenance of channel TX during live events, accurate daily preparation of schedules and systems checks in accordance with OFCOM guidelines and also taking responsible for coordinating and liaising with multiple departments and vendors concerning assets required for playout.

Playout Director - Dave, Drama, Gold, Really, Alibi, Yesterday, Watch + Eden Duties include:● The Confident operation of the OMNIBUS/ COLOSSUS /ITX automation Systems.● Proficiency in the operations of the transmission suite and pro-actively trouble shooting to avoid any potential on-screen errors - dealing with them should they arise in a quick and confident manner (whilst in keeping with the brand objectives).● Liaising with live studios and Galleries for live broadcasts as required.● Routinely liaising with Media Management Operators and Library to ensure all material is delivered accurately for transmission.● Liaising with the Client, Programme Planners, Compliance, Broadcast Engineers, Transmission Managers, and Access services (for subtitles and audio description) to ensure schedules transmit as planned.● Liaising with UKTV and AD Sales concerning the loss and replacement of any commercial material due to non delivery or mechanical breakdowns.● Completing accurate transmission logs on a daily basis● Being fully conversant with the Ofcom Code and regulations and routinely abide my role by these guidelines.● Making Editorial decisions where appropriate, with the client and viewers best interests in mind.

Lines Record and Commercials Team OperatorPerformed a wide variety of roles including:‘QC’ing’ file and tape delivered commercials assessing both audio and video before making media available on server. Liaising extensively with Playout Directors and Engineers via phone, email and talkback regarding delivery of commercials. Utilising numerous files and scheduling databases including Omnibus, Transman, Xytech and Marpl. Recording video feeds from specified sources using OH lines, preparing the media for transmission, saving with a pre named material ID then transferring the footage to relevant TX servers. Other responsibilities also include creating on air video files using the Suitcase ROT facility, processing Annos and much more

Media Management Operator (Format Transfer Area)Performed a wide variety of often changing roles including: A range of VT/Machine room operations (Inc HD Cam SR, DV Cam, Digibeta etc), requiring extensive technical knowledge. Editing audio tracks from a DAT to Digital Betacam in order to create Audio Description master tapes. Utilising Content Agent to design DVD menus, create data discs, transcode, resize and transfer audio/video files. Using Final Cut Pro to record files to tape and to edit media for various clients including Disney, UKTV and Fox. Other roles and responsibilities included HD Subtitling QC, DVD duplication and much more

Was employed by Minoutaur International who were the main distribution arm for Virgin Media (formerly known as Flextech) Television programming.
