After working in the molecular glue field of drug discovery for roughly a decade, I took the chance to co-found a company specializing in this approach. Molecular glue drugs can trigger the degradation of proteins in ways that don't conform to the rules of other drug modalities, enabling them to be used to tackle 'undruggable' proteins linked to disease. Despite a huge amount of progress and clinical success in the field, there is a huge opportunity for next-generation glues to solve critical issues in human health. Neomorph is dedicated to advancing the technology of glue degraders, discovering new degradable targets, and developing drugs to treat severe unmet medical needs. At Celgene I lead the Structural and Chemical Biology department. The mission was to enable and support drug discovery projects by identifying chemical matter using biochemical and cellular assays, and providing structural biology information and expertise. We further established Celgene expertise in the novel modality of targeted protein degradation, generating scientific breakthroughs in the mechanism of action of thalidomide analogs, establishing the cereblon modulator platform and enabling a portfolio of discovery projects in this space.

My work at the GNF focused on the development of structural and biochemical approaches against novel enzyme drug targets. At the GNF I proposed and lead a small molecule discovery program against a novel target in serious respiratory disease. I also participated in further project teams as a crystallographer, solving novel structures in the area of serious immune / inflammatory disease and participating in highly successful structure-based drug design efforts.
