I worked as a physician in the field of psycho-geriatric care. Where I managed the care of geriatric patients, with dementia, BPSD (behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia), delirium and its effect on families. I have a strong and responsible commitment towards the geriatric patient population.

My work mainly consisted doing triage by telephone or physical triage in the field of the first line acute health care.

I assisted the GP's in the service and delivery of the care management of the practice population. Managing the GP's agenda, triage of patients, minor medical procedures and several administrative tasks.

During my reserch elective I worked on my own research project; The role of ethnicity in the social anxiety spectrum. I collected, managed and analysed the data using SPSS 20.0. Furthermore I did most of the preparation of this study, working on the study protocol and submitting it to the ethics comittee of the University of Stellenbosch. My supervisor was prof. S Seedat who is head of the psychiatry department, holds the South African Research Chair in Posttraumatic Stress Disorder from the Department of Science and Technology and National Research Foundation. In addition, she co-directs the Medical Research Council Unit on Anxiety and Stress Disorders.
