-Responsible for the treatment of ill or injured persons and the safe transport of the same to appropriate facilities by ambulance.-Accountable for all equipment under my control for the duration of my shift(s).-Perform daily routine checks for maintenance of vehicles and emergency care equipment and record completion of such tasks.-Respond promptly and efficiently to emergencies and routine transports as directed by Communications Center.-Operate communications equipment in accordance with policies contained in EMT's Employee Handbook.-Upon arrival of emergency scene, immediately survey situation to determine the need for additional support and report initial status of emergency to Communications Center.-Coordinate efforts of first responders involved in patient care efforts and expeditiously assume responsibility for patient care until relieved by ranking personnel or receiving facility staff.-Render basic level pre-hospital emergency care as state and local guidelines permit.-Initiate cardiopulmonary resuscitation to victims of cardiac arrest, call for advanced life support personnel if appropriate and available in a timely manner, and help prepare these patients for receiving facility transport.-Operate mechanical adjuncts for breathing as state and local guidelines permit.-Perform medical rescue tasks as necessary to access, provide immediate care to, disentangle and remove victims of entrapment to according to state and local guidelines.-Care for emotionally disturbed, alcoholic, drug influenced, epileptic and unruly patients in such a manner which ensures the safety of the patient, bystanders and crew.-Fully asses all emergency patients vital signs and record these findings on the pre-hospital patient care report form.-Perform other duties that may be required or assigned by management.-Inspect and clean EMS vehicles and requisition equipment and supplies in order to ensure the continuous availability of properly stocked and serviceable units.
