I currently work as a Commercial Risk Manager for Lendlease Construction (USA) where I am responsible for providing project risk management, legal, and claim support for our West Coast region, which includes a $1.6 BN project to construct three (3) luxury apartment towers in downtown Los Angeles. My other responsibilities include preparing entitlement claims for submission to the client, evaluating and negotiating subcontractor claims, reviewing subcontract agreements, and acting as a liaison to consulting experts and counsel. Prior to working for Lendlease, I worked as a Senior Program Risk Manager for AECOM on a $6.3 BN program to modernize and upgrade nine (9) colleges in the Los Angeles Community College District. My job duties included creating and maintaining risk, conducting analytical quantitative risk analysis, reviewing documents and project requests for bond compliance, managing and facilitating claims resolutions and settlement, and acting as a liaison to the District Risk Manager and outside counsel. I have also worked closely with industry leading experts and attorneys and gained invaluable experience relating to construction litigation such as cost and delay analysis, claim documentation, surety law, and risk prevention. I was also responsible for creating and implementing corporate policies and procedures that protected the company’s interests and minimized its exposure to litigation. Prior to becoming an attorney, I worked for PKF Mark III, Inc. as a Field Superintendent on complex projects ranging in size from $2 million to $50 million. In my last assignment as a Field Superintendent, I worked on a $50 million project which was part of the $3.5 billion Boston Harbor Cleanup. On this project, I successfully managed over thirty subcontractors and vendors in renovating an existing wastewater treatment facility. I was also responsible for shop drawing management and review, engineering, scheduling, and tracking job costs. My efforts were instrumental in completing this project within budget.
