As a licensed clinical psychologist and health services researcher, I'm dedicated to transforming mental health care treatments for trauma-related disorders, particularly PTSD. My research combines evidence-based treatments, advanced statistics, and analytics like machine learning to create more effective and accessible therapies that cater to individuals' unique needs.Currently, I serve as an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Rush University Medical Center. I'm also the Research Director of the Road Home Program: Center for Veterans and Their Families at Rush, where I spearhead initiatives to enhance clinical care for service members, veterans, and their families, as well as Director of the TREAT (Treatment Response, Efficacy, Access, and Timing) Lab. In addition to my roles at Rush, I'm Chair of the Warrior Care Network® Network Evaluation Committee My work focuses on innovating treatments for trauma-related disorders through clinical trials and research.Some of my active research projects include:* Evaluating the efficacy of intensive Cognitive Processing Therapy delivered over a single week for individuals with PTSD* Augmenting Cognitive Processing Therapy with therapeutics like Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) or Stellate Ganglion Blocks (SGBs)* Exploring biological markers for PTSD using wearable technology* Leveraging machine learning/AI and advanced analytics to predict treatment response and non-response in PTSDBy bridging the gap between cutting-edge research and clinical practice, I aim to improve the lives of those affected by trauma-related disorders and help them find the most effective treatments tailored to their needs.I also consult on a variety of topics that fall within my expertise as part of Philip Held, LLC.
