About Philip Hublitz

More than 20 years of successful work in molecular biology areas, mainly developing genetically engineered model systems. Combined 14 years working experience as Head of EMBL Rome Gene Expression Facility and the MRC WIMM Genome Engineering Facility at the University of Oxford. Currently head of the Evotec Göttingen Cell Therapy hiPSC engineering platform. My team is responsible for human induced pluripotent stem cell genome engineering to develop custom fit lines for our diverse portfolios of cell therapy applications. Our main disease and development areas cover cancer treatment (immuno-oncology), metabolic diseases and heart repair. Ultimately, we want to provide safe and highly effective cell therapy products to as many patients as possible. We are constantly seeking partners to fully leverage our platform and accelerate projects towards transformative therapies, both within existing and to expand into new disease areas. Partnership models are flexible, and the relative contribution of EVOTEC and the respective partner at each stage of the project is mutually agreed on a project-by-project phase. If our asset is of interest you can find more information at https://www.evotec.com/en/innovate/ipsc-platform.

Philip Hublitz Work Experience Details
  • Evotec
    Senior Research Scientist
    Evotec Aug 2022 - Present
    Göttingen, Lower Saxony, Germany
Evotec Göttingen is dedicated to research into development of innovative therapies for metabolic diseases and associated side effects as well as for diabetic complications and kidney diseases. Cell therapy is a fast-growing and highly promising field of biomedical research that plays an important role in the development of novel therapeutics. This approach uses a cell product with therapeutic effect, derived from living cells that are cultivated outside of the body before being injected or transplanted. Cell therapy offers exceptional opportunities and has the potential to achieve substantial disease-modifying effects within a single treatment, or to even completely cure diseases. The truly curative treatment potential of cell therapy involves: Replacing declining function of diseased tissue and/or stimulation of regeneration, Stimulating cell-mediated immunity, Broad applicability to diseases of pancreas, heart, muscle, immune system and others.
  • Methods And Protocols Mdpi

Mdpi Ag, Klybeckstrasse 64, Ch-4057 Basel, Switzerland
Methods and Protocols (ISSN 2409-9279) is an international open access journal aiming to establish and describe new experimental techniques in Biological and Medical sciences, with its content covered by PubMed and WoS. M&Ps is published quarterly online by MDPI. The first issue has been released in 2018. The journal is free for readers. Methods and Protocols aims at rapid publication and accepted papers are immediately published online. Since 2020 we are indexed in SCOPUS and since 2022 we have received an official 5 year impact factor (IF 2.4 as of 2022).
  • University Of Oxford

University Of Oxford Sep 2014 - Jul 2022
    Oxford, United Kingdom
As the Head of the Genome Engineering Services at the MRC Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine I am responsible for conceptual design and establishment of CRISP/Cas9 mediated genome editing as well as recombineering based assembly of complex targeting constructs.
  • J - Interdisciplinary Scientific Journal
    Editorial Board Member
    J - Interdisciplinary Scientific Journal Feb 2018 - Jun 2022
    Mdpi Publishers, Basel, Switzerland
MDPI has launched a new open access journal. "J" is dedicated to publishing all types of research outputs, including negative and confirmatory results in all disciplines and to make these results available very quickly after peer-review. Our goal is to improve fast dissemination of new research results and ideas, and to allow research groups to build new studies, innovations and knowledge without delay. Authors will have the opportunity to post their paper on MDPI’s preprint platform, https://www.preprints.org/, immediately after submission to further speed up the dissemination of their work.
