Providing technical and commercial advice to clients delivering large scale energy projects, from development through to EPC procurement and construction. (Primarily Interconnectors and Off-shore infrastructure).

Overall responsibility for the successful operations of the East-West Interconnector (EWIC), EirGrid’s fully regulated 500MW electricity interconnector. Ensured that the assets in both Ireland and the UK, were operated, maintained and utilised to provide the maximum benefit to the stakeholders, and that the commercial responsibilities of the state in respect of usage of the interconnector were properly enabled. The role included actively managing key relationships with all stakeholders including regulatory bodies, TSOs and customers to ensure the needs are fully understood and delivered on.

Responsibility for the development and implementation of the East West Interconnector construction agreements with particular focus on the transition from inception, design, procurement and awarding of the various EPC Contracts (€400m) and various Consultancy services contracts (€100m) for the construction phase of the infrastructure.Overseen the design, construction and commissioning phases of the project which included 200km of high voltage subsea cable across the Irish sea, 100km of high voltage land cable and the construction of two converter station buildings valued at €60m each Responsibility to report the monthly technical and commercial status to the EirGrid Board, private commercial investors, government bodies and key stakeholders Hands-on management of the EPC Contractor and Owners Engineer to ensure the performance targets and key milestones were being achieved, and risk management processes being rigourously appliedOversaw the dispute resolution process through to succesful conclusion, to the benefit of the shareholders

Consultant Engineer for the design and development of strategic electrical assets throughout Ireland and for various utilities overseas over a 10 year period. Notable experience included playing a key part on the ESBI turn-around management team providing services to the UN in Kosovo as part of their infrastructure rebuild. Further spent 2 years based in the UK, providing consultancy services on behalf of ESBI to National Grid on strategic infrastructure projects across the UK.
