As a securities lawyer at Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP, my practice focused corporate and securities law, including advising clients on regulatory matters, corporate governance policies and general commercial matters.I worked with both public companies and investment dealers in a variety of transactions, including private placements, and other forms of equity financing and have acted for both acquirers and target companies involved in takeover bids, plans of arrangement and other business combination transactions. I also provided advice to public companies on Canadian securities laws and regulatory compliance.

As a legal summer student in the compliance department, with a focus on U.S. insurance operations, I researched and synthesized U.S. insurance legislation from each state to create a corporate legal database to ensure business practice compliance. In addition, I reviewed marketing communications to ensure all statements complied with state legislation in the jurisdiction of distribution. In this role, I was also responsible for leasing with insurance advisors to ensure sales complied with regulatory and licensing obligations.
