About Philip Horton

I am a Clinical Associate Professor of Architecture and Co-Director of the emerging Center of Building Innovation (CoBI) at Arizona State University (ASU). As a Senior Global Futures Scientist at ASU, my work with CoBI is aimed at transformative change in all facets of the built environment that will yield a more sustainable, and more just, future for our planet and for society.

    I have previously taught as a Faculty Associate, Lecturer, and now Clinical Professor. I have taught courses at every level, from 1st Year Undergraduate to 6th Year Graduate. Most of my teaching has focused around Architecture Studios (including students from Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Interior Design, and Construction Management). I have also taught Lecture and Lab courses on Architectural Construction, Passive Systems Design, and Computer Drawing and Representation.I was the Architecture Faculty Advisor to Team ASUNM for the 2013 Solar Decathlon in Irvine, California hosted by the US Department of Energy and the National Renewable Energies Laboratory. Critical tasks during this two-year teaching experience included: team-building and coordination, design deliverables, fund-raising and resource procurement, fabrication, assembly, installation, and public outreach.
