I am an experienced mechanical engineer and software developer with more than 10 years of experience programming for simulation, primarily in C++ and Python. I have a background in research, having completed a PhD in Computational Mechanical Engineering and having performed additional post-doctoral research in computational simulation. During my time in academia, I developed FEA-based, high-performance, multi-scale methods, and implemented them in distributed-memory-parallel C++ code.In my current role as a Senior Simulation Specialist, I lead a team of 5 simulation engineers in solving challenging design problems, which can be mechanical (fatigue, shock loading, welded and bolted joints), electro-thermal, or electro-magnetic in nature. The work is split between complex simulations performed using existing commercial finite-element software, and Python programming to perform advanced analyses (e.g., dielectric calculations, critical-plane fatigue analysis, multi-objective optimisation routines).I've proven to be highly adaptable, with professional experience in many different commercial FE software (e.g., MSC, COMSOL, Ansys, Abaqus), both as a user and as a developer (Python fatigue postprocessing addons for MSC with pyNastran, Java multi-optimization plugin for COMSOL with MOEA, Python scripts for Ansys, C++ UELMAT and python processing for Abaqus).
