I am the Business Controls Partner for the Lending & Capital Management function of Coutts Private Bank. My role is to ensure that the business understands the risks inherent within its products and processes, what the impacts are if they materialize, what controls they have in place and whether the residual risk is within its defined risk appetite. I do this by completing risk and control assessments across product management, sales and operations; review and challenge of monthly Key Risk Indicators; upstream risk monitoring; and escalating issues and events where risk appetite may have been breached. I often have to assess scenarios and emerging issues brought to me by business stakeholders and provide a reasoned assessment of client, financial, regulatory and reputational impact for the Material Risk Taker to decide whether to accept or address the risk by introducing more adequate and effective controls.

I conduct risk assessment and controls testing on a portfolio of products and services to ensure clients achieve fair outcomes.

I was part of a team that conducted testing across Global Restructuring Group. Our remit covered SME and large corporate restructuring teams, real estate, Strategic Investment Group, Finance and operations.Key work streams and projects I led on were testing the accuracy and completeness of Basle II Default data collection, Sarbannes-Oxley 404 key controls and employee conduct and conflicts of interest.In addition to UK offices, I conducted on-site testing in EMEA and provided remote assistance to teams based in APAC and the US.
