After working with the former CEO and CIO of ING REIM for 18 years, accepted an invitation from them to help set up from scratch their new real estate fund management business.Was responsible for achieving FSA approval for the new entity as well as working very closely alongside lawyers, accountants and other professional advisers to establish fund vehicle structures.

Global Head of Finance & Administration, ING Select Part of a small team that helped grow assets under management for the business to a sum in excess of £4 billion.Overall responsibility for all financial transactions associated with a substantial multi-manager property portfolio together with CFO functions for the ING Select business unit.Responsible for establishing and maintaining robust and efficient working practices throughout the organisation and integrating offices in The Hague; Singapore, Philadelphia and London.Administering the largest pooled pension fund vehicle in the UK together with its pan-European and Global sister funds. Initial responsibility for and subsequent oversight of the annual fund audits. Servicing over 120 institutional investors across segregated accounts and fund of funds. Liaising with in-house and external legal and tax advisers to develop new fund vehicles for UK and international offerings.Sourced and oversaw the introduction of Microgen computer system to replace largely spreadsheet-based client reporting.Reason for leaving: Global functions for Select were relocated to ING HQ in The Hague

Managed a large team of property accountants and administrators servicing both segregated account clients and in-house funds.Oversaw a massive growth in assets under management as ING established itself as the biggest single real estate investor in the world.Developed, monitored and regularly updated accounting controls and procedures for the Finance team.Provided monthly update performance reports to senior Directors measured against industry benchmarks. Principal point of contact for external auditors. Also charged with ensuring that the organisation achieved an unqualified RICS audit report each year.Regularly appraised and performance-managed senior team members.Invited by Trace Solutions to join a small panel of existing users to help develop their new TBS Tramps/Bluebox property administration system which has since become the most popular application in the UK for real estate owners and managers.Worked with Trace on a bespoke application to make financial accounting data available to clients in additional to traditional income and expenditure reports. Played a significant part in helping facilitate the single biggest real estate transaction in the UK when ING purchased a property portfolio from Abbey National in 2005 for £1.3b. Jointly responsible for day to day operation of Accounts department of 26 staff with particular responsibility for section dealing with billing of rent and other charges for the Canary Wharf project and the computation of service charges for the Estate and individual buildings running at c£15m pa.
