The interior of a fluid filled transformer is a dynamic and ongoing, complex series of chemical reactions that we learn more about each year c/o research & operation learnings. The chemical reactions of the different fluid types are similar but differences are known. I've worked with, & been fascinated by, transformer dielectric fluids since 2011. My interests include their chemical properties, their degradation pathways, their molecular interaction with the internal components of the transformer, laboratory testing, LIMS development, filtration & use of ester fluids to achieve improvements in operation & sustainability. I am a member of IEEE's Dielectric & Electrical Insulation society, a member of the Mining Electrical & Mining Mechanical Engineering Society (MEMMES), & the Royal Society of Chemistry. Committee member & Secretary for the Electric Energy Society of Australia (EESA) NSW / ACT Chapter. Former Biochemical scientist. As BDM for Cargill my role is to increase knowledge of the benefits of use of ester dielectric fluids in transformers throughout the ANZ region. I do this through a range of respectful activities that include supporting our key ANZ customers, Service Partners & transformer managers via dissemination of published research papers, organisation of training events, & site visits to provide technical presentations relating to operating transformers with ester fluids. I study the field of transformer oil diagnostics and I continue to develop a condition monitoring system to identify and monitor faults & deterioration of the liquid & solid insulation in transformers. This is a research activity only.
