Philip has significant experience in the UK and international insurance markets, the majority of this being on business from within the construction and engineering industry.After a comprehensive apprenticeship over 5 years in various aspects of marine and non-marine insurance and reinsurance theory and practice at Fenchurch Group Brokers, he elected to specialise in those policies related to the construction industry and built on this to be proficient in the placement of material damage and associated liability covers.He qualified as an ACII in 1975As well as the placement of this class of business, Philip has gained extensive underwriting experience as the Senior Construction Underwriter at Colonia Versicherung A.G in London and Cologne for some ten years.In recent years Philip has specialised in the placement of heavy infrastructure projects including “wet” and “dry” risks. His particular responsibility has been on significant power and heavy infrastructure developments which include the identification and assessment of a project’s technical/financial exposures, advising on indemnity and insurance clauses in concession documents and the structuring and placement of appropriate insurance and risk transfer programmes. Philip has taken key placement and ongoing management roles on a number of large infrastructure projects in particular and most recently, Crossrail and London Tideway TunnelsPhilip is a member of the British Tunnelling Society, part of the Institute of Civil Engineers.In April 2014 Philip joined Chubb 1882 Syndicate and became the Class Construction & Engineering Underwriter.Philip left Chubb 1882 Syndicate in Lloyd's in June 2016 and is now actively looking for a new opportunity.
