About Philip Murray
My former Chief Executive once told me my phone number could diffuse an international hostage situation. I feel this expression exemplifies my penchant for active listening, real empathy, persistence solving complex problems, and being truly invested in the success of others. I spent my early career in the Hospitality Industry, specifically customer facing Fine Dining. I am a firm believer everyone should spend a little time working in a bar or restaurant. There is no better place to learn how to communicate with and respect others, be it the customers you are serving or the teammates you are in the trenches with. I have been the hero that saved a couple’s 50th anniversary. I have also been publicly berated in front of a dining room of 100+ for a 50-cent upcharge to add cheese to a baked potato. I learned and grew from both.Fine dining also led me to one of my passions, wine. Not just drinking it. More importantly, being a Sommelier and telling its story. There is nothing fine dining clientele like talking about more than wine. I reveled in helping the uninitiated “once a year” guest find that perfect glass of White Zinfandel or start them on their path with an easy drinking Merlot. But I also thoroughly enjoyed waxing rhapsodic with a CEO or celebrity I saw weekly about the intricate elegance of the ‘96 Chateau Haut-Brion.Nine years ago, I transitioned to the Clinical Research and Healthcare Technology Industry. Ever since, those same skills and passions I honed over a white tablecloth have underpinned my success. My most recent personal and professional experiences have taught me the following about myself:I can successfully develop and nurture long-term relationships with new and existing enterprise customers.• I put the customer at the center of all I do.• I listen more than I speak.• I love big ideas, but always validate them with data/user feedback.I can align, lead, and grow a world-class healthcare product design and development organization from 25 employees to 140+.• I love to win, but helping the team win always brings greater joy.• I speak tech and exec.• I tell great stories that motivate.• The buck always stops with me.I constantly educate, refine, and drive myself to be a better individual.• I am constantly learning because I never settle.• I stay calm when faced with adversity.• I focus on making high quality, thoughtful decisions.I enjoy meeting new people and hearing new perspectives. Reach out if you want to talk about building relationships, emerging tech, software product development, wine, or baseball.
Listed skills include Customer Service, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office, and 25 others.
