I'm a Software Developer. I've worked in web and software development for over 2 decades.Over the years I've had experience working on a diverse range of projects. I've built complex web applications including content management systems, e-commerce systems, booking systems, business-to-business document sharing systems and so on. I've also worked on APIs, mobile apps, software libraries and so on.With my knowledge of planning & building software I am able to consult and offer advice to anyone who is looking to be pointed in the right direction. I have good communication skills, which often puts me in a good position to explain a clients ideas to other developers, and also to manage realistic expectations for clients.After dabbling with computers at a young age in the early 1990s (coding BASIC on an Amstrad), I started working professionally on web design in 2002. Since then I have become proficient in both web and software development using a wide range of tools. In 2002, when I first started working in web design, I was using HTML 4, in-line CSS, and crude DHTML scripts for front-end implementation. With the growing need to adapt "web standards" I quickly moved onto table-less XHTML and CSS, as well as using JavaScript to add more dynamic features to web interfaces. Many of these things are now taken for granted. My experience with web development as continued over the years, with a much stronger focus on developing web applications using many modern web standards, tools and frameworks. Similarly with "back-end" development, I started off writing web applications with classic ASP/VBScript using simple databases (such as MS Access). Quickly learning, my knowledge grew and I adopted better tools such as ASP.NET, C#, PHP, MS SQL and MySQL. Over 20 years I have learned to use many different languages, tools and approaches to building robust and usable applications.
