I was head-hunted to lead a 1000 strong technology team and support the business through the sale, as CIO. This Fixed Term Contract (12m), concluded on schedule within the 12 months, and delivered the transition of this £4bn, 9000 person business, to become part of Ovo Energy. During the year, I led the technology separation and transformed the technology and business platforms to become a digital enabled business, including leading the CISO, the CDO, and the Directors of Architecture, Operations, Service and Delivery.I defined the strategy, technology roadmap and divestment Transition Separation Agreement, enabling Ovo Energy to leverage the value in their new asset.The role included building an IT organisation, IT strategy, and operating model capable of supporting independent operation (as SSE plc divested SSE Energy Services).The technology achievements as part of the separation included a migration away from on-premise to cloud, a move to Agile (matching Ovo's existing model), rationalisation and stabilisation of core platforms and infrastructure, establishing and implementing standalone corporate and ERP systems (HR, Finance, Procurement), and removing legacy mainframe applications.Operationally, I also I led the SSE Smart Metering deployment, including relationships with Regulators and industry groups.
