About Philip Duennes

With an appreciation for both art and exceptional service, I've dedicated my career to enriching people's lives by providing the best customer service at great places of culture and knowledge. My passion for art was awakened when I took some art history courses, which spring-boarded my studies at California State University, Long Beach. Before earning my bachelor's in Art History, I volunteered in Visitor Services at the Getty, eager to work in a culturally rich and collaborative environment. There, I developed knowledge of the museum's programs and culture, as well as the inner workings of a great museum. I then embarked on a journey to explore firsthand the artistic treasures that I studied as a student. My travels first took me to Italy, where I cultivated a deep admiration for the art and culture of the Renaissance and Baroque eras. I then returned to Europe a couple more times and explored Dutch, French, Flemish, and English art and architecture. Over the years, I also traveled regularly to New York City and Washington D.C., where I immersed myself into world-class art and history through our great cultural institutions. I channeled my love of learning and service into a retail associate position at B&N. I excelled in providing personalized customer service to multiple customers, demonstrating a natural ability to greet visitors and engage in conversations about products and services to meet their needs. With a talent for learning quickly and juggling multiple and diverse tasks, I took on various front and back-end assignments, including e-commerce fulfillment, inventory, and merchandising, as well as training new hires. In all my endeavors, I've applied outstanding dedication and self-motivation to excel seamlessly in an environment that inspires imagination, entertains, and enriches the experience of visitors. Presently, I'm seeking to apply my well-honed customer service and organizational skills in a creative and service-oriented workplace within arts and culture, entertainment and recreation, leisure and hospitality, or retail sales.
