In 2010 i fulfilled a dream by joining the finest environmental law and advocacy organization in the world -- NRDC -- to lead on market innovation on clean energy. In particular, I undertook projects to assist of financial services firms in financing residential energy projects. I worked with Fannie Mae to make the case for and to implement their Green Bond backed by loans secured by Energy Star-rated homes (a concept i wrote about in 2015 -- link below). I developed and implemented projects to help cities, states, utilities, and other institutions invest in modern clean-energy solutions. This included advocating for utility policies to encourage and reward innovation, working with financial institutions to examine potential benefits of energy-related loan products, designing better programs, participating in utility rate cases, and more.

Overture created and delivered next-generation decisioning systems for assessing mortgages and student loans. We developed and implemented a sophisticated technology solution that would deliver lenders and investors unprecedented visibility into mortgage backed securities, and would allow origination of loans to feed more visible securities.

I joined start-up LendingTree when at the time when online loan origination was a mystery to both lenders and consumers. With an amazing team we figured out how to make it work. It was a ton of fun, fast-paced, and difficult at times. I managed a wide-range of legal projects and worked closely with the executive team and technology team to implement solutions. I really loved the start-up culture and thrived in it. Looking back, we were at the forefront of FinTech. In 2004 I started a Govt Affairs function for the company with emphasis leading initiative to create space for innovation in real estate brokerage and listings.
