I am a fully qualified Trading Standards Officer, specialising in all areas of product safety. I develop and maintain Primary Authority Partnerships with businesses for Buckinghamshire and Surrey Trading Standards (winning the 2018 BEIS Primary Authority Leadership Award and Officer of the Year finalist). I manage some of our largest partnerships including Shell UK, Toyota GB and Coca-Cola EuroPacific Partners Ltd.I have been particularly successful in developing Primary Authority Coordinated Partnerships with trade bodies, including the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) which has over 33,500 members. In 2016 I was seconded to ACS where I managed their assured advice, Primary Authority membership and online training programmes.I also advise the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents on product safety matters and represent them at a national level on many issues (including child fatalities). I have significant expertise in the areas of electrical equipment, furniture, cosmetics, toys, personal protective equipment, machinery, children's products, explosives and general product safety.I deliver a wide range of training courses to businesses on many subjects, including The Consumer Rights Act and pricing legislation. I also work with other Trading Standards, Environmental Health and Fire Safety teams who are looking to develop their chargeable business advice and Primary Authority functions.In 2018 I was contracted by the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) to deliver training to Trading Standards Officers across the UK on the Code of Practice for Product Recalls. This followed my work on the Working Group for Product Safety and Recalls in 2017 and on the BSI Committee that wrote the Code of Practice.In 2019 my team was a Regulatory Excellence Award finalist and in 2021 I sat on the BSI Committees for bringing safe products to market (PAS 7050) and button cell batteries. I was also delighted to be a founding member of the OPSS White Goods Safety Group.In 2022 I delivered training to Trading Standards officers across the UK for OPSS on PAS 7050 and my team won the Regulatory Excellence Award for Service Excellence.In 2023 I was appointed Chair of the OPSS Primary Authority Supermarkets Group and Vice Chair of the SE Regional Primary Authority Group.
