Chief Scientist And Chief Technology Officer
I am responsible for overseeing the technical direction of all product lines at KEMET including Tantalum, Film, Ceramic, Electrolytic, and Super capacitors, magnetic and EMC products, and sensor and actuator products. This includes product development, new materials development, organic growth initiatives, and inorganic growth initiatives. Some accomplishments:* Technical due diligence and integration of R&D for the acquisition of TOKIN from NEC.* Due diligence for the acquisition of Niotan, a tantalum powder manufacturer, including advising the KEMET Board of Directors on litigation pending at the time of acquisition.* Working with the product line R&D leaders and business leaders on the R&D section on the 3 year strategic planning.* Leading patent activities including filing decisions and annuities renewal decisions. * Enhancing analytical capabilities and electrical testing capabilities worldwide.* Lead efforts to identify and execute on University partnerships (consortiums and sponsored research projects.

I led the Tantalum capacitor product line for both organic and inorganic growth. I was responsible for leading the technical due diligence for the acquisition of the EPCOS Tantalum Product Line by KEMET in April 2006. This was also the period where we transferred the Tantalum-Polymer product line to Suzhou, China and my team was key in the transfer and startup of the process there.

I was responsible for helping determine what new products would be developed by the Tantalum and Ceramic capacitor product lines. I helped develop the business case methodology that is still in use at KEMET today. During this period, the electronics industry was expanding globally, and I made many trips to Asia (China, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore) to visit with the emerging Asian customer base.

During this period, I helped established an alliance with with an major manufacturer of medical devices on a specialized high voltage tantalum capacitor.
