I worked in the Millwork department at The Home Depot and helped people with technical questions on door and windows. I also assisted them with our proprietary Millwork Quoting System to help them choose special order doors and windows. This sometimes involved coordinating calls with vendors on the customers behalf, and then negotiating discounts with the vendor when orders were processed and things didn't go as planned. I was also requested by the department head to work on the weekly shrink plan.

I worked as a contract financial analyst for The Home Depot. While there I created reports by compiling data from Brio and MS Access and then formatting the data into something that could be easily read by VP level execs within the IT department. I also worked with the other people on my team to verify the accuracy of all team member reports as we helped each other find abnormalities in the data as well as helped each other find the cause of the abnormalities. In addition, I managed the proprietary project time tracking software used by The Home Depot, by helping to ensure projects were accurately tracked and correctly logged under capital or expense.

I worked with customers face to face and answered any technical questions they had about lighting, as well as assisted them with any purchasing decisions they made via our special order program. My manager requested that I also help with the weekly shrink plan by verifying on hand counts to book counts and verifying that employees were kept up to date on shrinkage prevention policies and procedures. This is a duty normally reserved for department heads, and is sometimes requested of those whom management would like to groom for department head positions.

I worked with clients and potential clients by setting up face to face meetings, most often in their home, and discussed their current financial situation. This often involved looking at and analyzing their current portfolio holding and insurance products while comparing them to their long term goals. We would sit down and discuss how First Investors products and services could fill in any gaps they had as well as make their holding and their goals more congruent.
