As a power system Real-Time Electrical Engineer (RTE) was responsible for predictive studies for the reliable operation of the Bulk Electrical System (BES). Performed studies, using both real time state estimation and offline power flow tools, to provide technical direction for changing system configurations, switching activities related to forced outages, and general switching. Studies performed for power generation and transmission facilities of the BES and lower voltage systems in both the Western Area Lower Colorado (WALC) and Rocky Mountain Region (RMR) footprints as well as facilities of neighboring Transmission Operators (TOP)/ Balancing Authority (BA). Duties also included investigating and providing electrical engineering oversight and expertise in developing operating procedures for constrained paths or congested transmission management.Was responsible for meeting applicable North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards; Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) orders; Reliability Coordinators (RC), and Department of Energy (DOE)/Western Area Power Administration policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Duties include managing proposed renewable interconnection projects as well as other small and large generation interconnection projects and other Electric High Voltage (EHV) transmission and substation projects. Regularly assist Western customers in securing transmission services through Western's Open Access Same-time Information System (OASIS).Regularly assist Western customers through these interconnection processes by providing expertise regarding Western's Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT) and General Requirements for Interconnection (GRI). Regularly conduct and hold customer meetings to guide client through interconnection process or to answer technical questions that arise from conclusions in System Impact Studies, Facility Study, or other technical studies as well as to assist client in LGIA process and assisting in securing a suitable balancing authority. Assist in assuring that electric utility industry compliance is maintained as well as provide leadership to the various teams that recommend and develop the solutions for the multiple electrical engineering problems that arise.Work together with Operation's Pre-scheduling desk when real time outages impede customers scheduled transmission paths. Coordinate and discuss with Operation's Outage Coordinators discussing scheduled outages for planned construction or maintenance projects to help coordinate outages in a manner that minimizes adverse effects to the Electric Bulk System (EBS) and minimizes negative cost impacts to Western's Firm Transmission customers.

Performed duties as a contractor to the Western Area PowerAdministration.• Perform technical studies regarding identified issues found among the numerous substations and transmission lines located within the Desert Southwest region of the Western Area Power Administration. Prepared technical reports detailing issues found and then present multiple solutions for every technical report submitted. Every technical report prepared was personally presented to the project management group at Western’s DSW headquarters. Also created construction scopes, schedules, and cost estimates with input from Western employees for each technical report presented. • Personally performed Interconnection Facility Studies for Western customers following a System Impact Study completed by the Transmission Planning group within the DSW office in Phoenix, AZ. Individually created technical reports which detailed the various construction projects and electrical upgrades necessary to achieve goals presented within the System Impact Study. Presented the technical reports to the Transmission Business Unit (TBU) located within the DSW headquarters office. Attended regular meetings with the TBU team as well as sat in with meetings with Western’s customers to answer any technical questions related to the electrical recommendations presented in the technical reports created.• All technical studies created was taken from onsite evaluations at numerous Western owned facilities or transmission lines along with extensive collaboration with various technical groups within Western’s DSW headquarters. This research was then compiled and evaluated to create a detailed technical paper that proposed multiple options to correct the identified issue with detailed recommendations of each option presented.

Responsibilities included oversight and management of all construction services performed in the field.- Performed duties as a Project Manager in Atlanta, GA for Clearwire's market launch utilizing local and regional resources. Oversaw the progress and quality of Construction Managers as well as the various independent contractors used throughout the project. Personally orchestrated the logistics involved in coordinating a multi-disciplined team made up of equipment technicians, civilconstruction crews, equipment delivery teams, crane operators, cell technicians, and land owners to achieve the project objective of safely constructing and bringing these new telecommunication sites online by launch. Acted as the company’s liaison to the client insuring client’s needs andexpectations were met within project’s timeline and budget.- Performed duties as a Project Manager and provided technical suggestions for improvements of over 120 acquired decommissioned cell sites across Canada.
